Libya
Libya is a country in North Africa, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north and surrounded by Egypt, Sudan, Chad, Niger, Algeria, and Tunisia. With an area of almost 1.8 million square kilometers, it is the fourth-largest country in Africa and the 16th-largest in the world.
Most of Libya's population lives near the coast, with Tripoli as the capital and largest city. Libya has a rich historical background, being inhabited by Berber peoples, and later influenced by Phoenician, Greek, Roman, and Arab civilizations. The country holds the 10th-largest proven oil reserves in the world, yet ongoing political turmoil and conflict have significantly hampered its economic and social development.
