Saint Lucia
Saint Lucia is an island country in the eastern Caribbean, forming part of the Lesser Antilles and the Windward Islands. Its capital is Castries. The country covers 617 square kilometers and has a population of about 180,000. English is the official language, and the national currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar.
Saint Lucia’s geography is dominated by mountainous terrain, with the Pitons, two volcanic spires, as its iconic landmark. The economy relies on tourism, agriculture, and foreign investment. Saint Lucia gained independence from Britain on February 22nd, 1979, and is a member of the United Nations and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States.
