An Fhearthainn
Ireland, Ireland
An Fhearthainn, better known in English as Narin or Naran, is a small seaside village and townland in the parish of Ardara on the southwest coast of County Donegal in the northwest of Ireland. It lies on the Wild Atlantic Way and is best known for Narin Strand, about two kilometres of fine golden‑sand beach backed by dunes and low hills, with views across Gweebarra Bay to the small island of Inishkeel. At low tide, Inishkeel can be reached on foot by crossing a tidal sandbar, adding an adventurous touch to beach‑walking and exploring. The area is rural and sparsely settled, with a scatter of modern homes and a modest tourist trade served by guesthouses, caravan parks, and nearby amenities, giving it a quiet, traditional coastal‑village charm rather than a busy resort feel.
