The Arctic Cathedral (officially Tromsdalen Church) is one of the most famous landmarks in Tromsø, Norway.

Opened in 1965 and designed by architect Jan Inge Hovig, the church is known for its striking modern design, with sharp triangular shapes inspired by Arctic landscapes, mountains, and icebergs. Although it is commonly called a cathedral, it is actually a parish church of the Church of Norway.

Its distinctive white exterior and dramatic location make it a symbol of Tromsø and a recognizable feature of the city skyline. Inside, visitors can see the impressive stained-glass mosaic “The Return of Christ,” created by artist Victor Sparre in 1972, as well as a large modern organ and a bright, spacious interior. The church also hosts concerts throughout the year, making it both a place of worship and a popular cultural attraction.
