Aritaki Arboretum
Koshigaya, Japan, Japan
Aritaki Arboretum is a small, private botanical garden and arboretum in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, created around trees and plants collected by the curator Tadahiko Aritaki from across Asia.
It features a compact, forest‑like layout with around 320 species and roughly 1,000 trees, including notable specimens such as a large North American bald cypress and a massive Chinese hickory, as well as many camellias and other warm‑temperate species.
The city of Koshigaya later took over the site, renamed it Koshigaya Aritaki Botanical Garden, and opened it to the public with very low admission fees, simple paths, and seasonal opening hours so visitors can enjoy a quiet, green escape focused on trees, birds, and insects rather than formal flower displays.
