Au Castle
Wädenswil, Switzerland
Au Castle, known as Schloss Au, is a baroque-style country estate on the Au Peninsula along Lake Zurich in Wädenswil, canton of Zurich, Switzerland.
Built in the mid-17th century by General Johann Rudolf Werdmüller as a luxurious residence with landscaped gardens, an artificial lake, and exotic plantings, it was rebuilt in neo-baroque form in 1928-1929 by architect Albert Freytag after earlier demolitions.
Since 1989 owned by the canton of Zurich, it serves as a conference center for the University of Teacher Education while preserving its historical features like grand loggias, towers, and opulent interiors as a regionally significant cultural property.
