Badoc Island
Philippines , Philippines
Badoc Island is a small, private, and uninhabited island located about 1 kilometer off the shore of Barangay Pagsanahan Sur in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, covering roughly 36.256 hectares.
It features a long stretch of white sand beach on one side, natural rock and cliff formations on the southern end, and a natural platform on the north, with crystal-clear waters that make it a popular spot for snorkeling, free diving, scuba diving, and surfing. The island is a hidden gem known for its pristine waters, fine sand, and seclusion, offering a quieter alternative to nearby Pagudpud, and visitors can reach it via a 30-minute boat ride from Barangay Pagsanahan, where they pay a small environmental fee and can rent simple sheds or camp on the beach.
There are no eateries on the island except for a small store selling snacks and soda, so tourists are advised to bring their own food and water, and while the island can be walked around in 1–2 hours, hiking the central hill requires a local guide due to snakes. Badoc, the town where the island is located, is also the birthplace of famous Filipino painter Juan Luna, known for his masterpiece Spoliarium.
