Balingasay River
Philippines , Philippines
Balingasay River is a seven‑kilometer-long river in Bolinao, Pangasinan, in the Philippines, often called Luzon’s cleanest and greenest river because of its clear water and well‑kept surroundings.
It is fed by Quibuar Spring, Bolinao Falls, and several smaller springs and creeks, which help keep the flow fresh and support rich plant and animal life. Along its banks grow about 15 hectares of mangrove forest, plus stands of nipa palms and other native trees, which act as natural barriers against erosion and pollution while giving shelter to fish, crabs, shrimps, oysters, and migratory birds.
The river is where freshwater from the land meets the seawater of the West Philippine Sea, creating a unique mixing‑zone habitat that local communities also use for fishing and small‑scale tourism.
