Barit Island is a small, wooded, privately owned island in northern Cagayan province in the Philippines, located in the South China Sea within the Luzon Strait about 18.86°N latitude and 121.25°E longitude.
The island covers approximately 4.86 square kilometers (1.88 square miles or about 700 hectares) with a coastline of roughly 8 kilometers and an elevation of about 22-24 meters above sea level. It lies under the jurisdiction of Barangay Fuga Island in the municipality of Aparri, part of the Babuyan Islands group, positioned 0.75 miles west of nearby Fuga Island and just 0.5 miles from Mabag Island.
Barit features a small airstrip and is renowned as a serene tropical paradise with breathtaking landscapes, idyllic beaches, and crystal-clear waters, making it one of the purest and most naturally clean beautiful islands in the world. The island was purchased in 1990 by Chinese-Filipino businessman Tan Yu and is currently administered by Barit Island Holdings, a subsidiary of Yu's Asiaworld Internationale corporation, with development ongoing for tourism including Cynthia Pacific Resorts.
