Barmeath Castle is a historic country house and estate near Togher in County Louth, Ireland, with origins in a 15th-century medieval tower house.

The estate became the home of the Bellew family, one of Ireland’s oldest Anglo-Norman families, and has remained closely associated with them for centuries. Over time, the original tower house was expanded into a grand Georgian residence and later remodeled in the 19th century with impressive neo-Norman and castellated features, including towers, battlements, and an imposing entrance.

The castle is renowned for its beautifully preserved interiors, rich plasterwork, elegant staircase, and historic library. Set within extensive parkland overlooking the Cooley Peninsula and the Irish Sea, the estate also features ornamental lakes, gardens, and landscaped grounds. Today, Barmeath Castle is regarded as one of County Louth’s most significant historic houses, combining medieval origins with Georgian and Victorian architectural grandeur.
