Bawbawon Island
Philippines , Philippines
Bawbawon Island is a small, unspoiled tropical island located less than a kilometer off the coast of Plaridel in Misamis Occidental, Philippines, known for its incredible white sand beach and clear, shallow waters.
The island gets its name from the local term “bawbawon” or “baobaoan,” which means “shallow” because of the shallow water surrounding it. It sits approximately 200 meters off a stunning coral reef on one side and near lush mangrove forests on the other, with wild bushes and coconut trees covering the island.
This untouched natural paradise offers perfect conditions for swimming all day, snorkeling to marvel at colorful corals, picnics, and team-building activities, though the beach resort currently only offers day tours rather than overnight stays. Visitors typically travel by bus to Plaridel, take a motorcycle (habal-habal) to the seaport, and then board a boat to reach the island.
