Bayat qalası
Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan
Bayat qalası was the first fortress and early capital of the Karabakh Khanate, founded in 1748 by Panah Ali Khan near Aghjabadi in Azerbaijan. It was built mainly for defense, with thick walls and a surrounding moat, and it also included a mosque, bathhouse, market area, and other buildings. The fortress later lost its role as a capital when a more suitable center was built elsewhere, but it remains important in Azerbaijani history as the starting point of the Karabakh Khanate.
