Bilgah is a historic coastal settlement and municipality located in the Sabunchu district of Baku, Azerbaijan, with a population of around 8,300.
Known as one of Baku's oldest neighborhoods, the name derives from “Pilegah,” meaning “the place where silk is made,” reflecting its past in silk production. The area boasts a rich cultural heritage with medieval monuments, rock engravings, and a long-standing tradition of carpet-making, silkworm breeding, and weaving. Situated along the Caspian Sea, Bilgah features clean air, a healthy climate, and natural beauty, including vineyards, fig trees, and saffron plantations.
The settlement is also home to the Bilgah Cardiological Resort, established in 1936, and offers a blend of historic charm with modern recreational beach facilities popular with locals and tourists alike.
