Black Castle is a ruined medieval fortress located on a rocky headland beside the coast in Wicklow Town, Ireland.

Built by the Anglo-Normans in the late 12th century after their arrival in Ireland, it occupied a strategic position overlooking the sea and served as a defensive stronghold for centuries. The castle was frequently attacked by local Irish clans, particularly the O'Byrnes and O'Tooles, and was burned and rebuilt multiple times during ongoing conflicts between Norman settlers and native Irish chieftains.

By the mid-17th century, it was largely destroyed and eventually fell into ruin. Today, the remaining ruins stand dramatically above the sea and are one of Wicklow Town’s most recognizable historic landmarks. Although only parts of the original structure survive, the site is valued for its turbulent history, scenic coastal setting, and panoramic views of the Irish Sea.
