Bogor Botanical Gardens, known locally as Kebun Raya Bogor, is a large botanical garden located in the city of Bogor, about 60 kilometers south of central Jakarta in West Java, Indonesia.

It is the oldest botanical garden in Southeast Asia, founded on May 18, 1817 by the German botanist Caspar Georg Carl Reinwardt and now managed by Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency.

The garden covers around 87 hectares and functions as both a conservation center for tropical lowland plants and a major research and education site, with thousands of tree and plant species, including extensive palm and orchid collections, as well as freshwater lily ponds and shaded walking paths.

Its central location next to the Bogor Presidential Palace (Istana Bogor) and the backdrop of Mount Salak also make it a popular urban green space and a favorite day‑trip destination for both locals and tourists.
