The farm was once owned by prominent Norwegian figures including merchant Peder Nielsen Leuch and later Prime Minister Peder Anker, who expanded and developed the estate in the late 18th century, adding a manor house in classicist style and creating Norway's first English landscape park with rare trees and ornamental gardens. The estate historically supported sawmills and timber trade through its large forest holdings.

Today, Bogstad Farm is owned by Oslo municipality and managed by the Bogstad Foundation as a museum that preserves authentic interiors and historic architecture along with agricultural heritage. Visitors can explore the manor house, walk the scenic park with ponds, and enjoy farm animals and a café, making it a cultural and historical attraction reflecting Norwegian aristocratic life and rural traditions.
