Braga Tower
Braga, Portugal, Portugal
The Braga Tower, known as Torre de Menagem, is the sole surviving keep from Braga's medieval castle in central Braga, Portugal, standing 30 meters tall in granite with Gothic military architecture including merlons, machicolations, and arrow slits.
Construction began in the 12th-13th century under King Dinis as the central stronghold of a defensive system with walls and towers around the cathedral, completed by King Fernando around 1373 amid Reconquista threats and border conflicts.
Most of the castle was demolished between 1905-1906 for urban expansion, leaving this panoramic viewpoint as a National Monument symbolizing Braga's fortified past.
