Brody Castle
Brody, Ukraine, Ukraine
Brody Castle in Brody, Ukraine, was constructed between 1630 and 1635 as a bastioned fortress by Polish Crown Hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski, who acquired the town in 1629, marking it as an innovative defensive structure in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to protect against Cossack and Tatar incursions.
In the mid-18th century, the Potocki family added a two-story palace and a baroque overgate tower with a clock, transforming it into a grand residence while retaining its military role amid regional conflicts.
Today, the ruins preserve elements of Renaissance bastion architecture and later Baroque additions, standing as a historical landmark in western Ukraine near Lviv.
