Buguias is a small mountain municipality in the province of Benguet on the island of Luzon, Philippines, lying in the Cordillera Administrative Region just north of the city of Baguio. It is known locally as the “Vegetable Basket of the Cordilleras” because of its cool highland climate and large production of potatoes, carrots, cabbages, and other temperate crops sent to markets in Baguio and Manila. The town has a population of around 44,000–46,000 people and is mainly rural, with rolling hills, terraced vegetable farms, and streams that give it a scenic, green countryside feel. Buguias is also culturally significant as the original home of the well‑known Ibaloi mummy of Apo Anno, whose preserved body was once kept in a cave in the barangay of Nabalicong and is an important symbol of local heritage and pre‑colonial history.
