Bum is a small town and municipality in the Qabala (Gabala) Rayon of northern Azerbaijan, situated in a valley between mountains at the foot of the Greater Caucasus range.
It lies near the Kovdak and Bum rivers, giving the area a green, hilly landscape that is popular for rural tourism and nature‑based getaways close to the resort‑type town of Gabala. The settlement has around 5,000 residents, with basic local infrastructure such as a secondary school.
A cultural house, a mosque, and a small hospital, and it is also known for a historic medieval fortress‑site called Govurqala from the 9th–14th centuries.
