Bystranda, meaning "The City Beach," is a man-made Blue Flag beach located in the southeastern downtown area of Kristiansand in southern Norway, situated just east of the mouth of the River Otra.

This 270-meter-long shallow sandy beach features fine filled sand and calm waters protected by a marina breakwater and peninsula, making it ideal for families, children, elderly visitors, and people with disabilities. Bystranda holds prestigious Blue Flag status, which requires meeting strict criteria for water quality, safety, environmental education, and sustainable practices—a rare achievement for a downtown beach in Scandinavia.

The beach offers numerous amenities including a pier, playground, sand volleyball court, skate ramp, sunbathing deck, accessible bathing ramp, public restrooms, showers, and palm trees in planters that create a southern vibe on bright days. It's Kristiansand's most popular summer destination, especially on hot days when locals dive from floating piers and swim in waters that can reach the low 20s Celsius during warm spells from late June through August.
