It sits about 2 km south of Tavira’s city center, roughly a 20-minute walk along Estrada das 4 Águas, with ample free and paid parking nearby for drivers. The pier offers scenic views of the Rio Gilão, traditional fishing boats, and extensive salinas where wading birds like the black-winged stilt feed, giving visitors a glimpse of the Ria Formosa Natural Park’s natural beauty on the way to the beach.

Ferries from Cais das Quatro Águas, operated by Silnido, run approximately every hour in winter and more frequently in summer, taking less than 10 minutes to reach the island—shorter and cheaper than the ferry from Tavira’s city center. Round-trip tickets cost €1.70–€1.95 for adults and €0.90–€1.05 for children aged 4–11, with babies under 4 traveling free, and tickets are purchased at the pier’s ticket office.
