Calumpang Peninsula
Philippines , Philippines
Calumpan Peninsula is a prominent peninsula located in southern Batangas, Calabarzon, on the island of Luzon in the Philippines.
The peninsula juts out into the sea and is bounded by Maricaban Strait to the southwest, Balayan Bay to the northeast, and Batangas Bay to the southeast. It has an elevation of 209 meters (686 feet) and is generally long and ridged with steep coastlines formed by volcanic rocks and breccias with patches of limestone.
Calumpan is a popular marina area famous for interesting dive sites, with offshore waters featuring gently to steeply sloping terraces lined with corals, sponges, and a variety of fish. The area near Mabini, where the peninsula is located, offers resorts along its east coast where the waters of Balayan Bay lap at craggy shores. The peninsula contains 18 barangays, with 14 rated as highly susceptible to coastal erosion and landslides due to high risk from strong waves during both Habagat and Amihan seasons, as well as proximity to the Lubang Fault which could trigger earthquakes.
The tropical climate features average temperatures of 23°C, with the hottest month being April at 26°C and the coolest being January at 20°C, along with heavy annual rainfall of about 3,016 millimeters, with July being the wettest month.
