Cantacuzino Castle in Bușteni, Romania, is a stunning neo-Romanian and neo-Brâncovenesc architectural gem built between 1901 and 1911 by architect Grigore Cerchez for Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, known as "Nababul" for his vast wealth, on the site of an old family hunting lodge at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains.
The quadrilateral pavilion features carved stone facades, oak doors, Carrara marble stairs, wrought-iron railings, a unique gallery of Cordoba leather murals depicting Cantacuzino ancestors, modern amenities like electricity from inception, and surrounding gardens with grottos, cascades, and fountains.
Once hosting royalty including Queen Marie in 1928, it passed through heirs and state ownership before private restoration, now open as a museum and event venue celebrated for its opulence and panoramic Carpathian views.
