The Castelo e Vila Muralhada de Ansiães crowns a granite massif in Selores, Carrazeda de Ansiães municipality, Portugal, with human occupation tracing to the 3rd millennium BC Chalcolithic through Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman villas, and early Muslim defenses during the 8th-10th century Reconquista.

Granted its first charter by León's Fernando Magno around 1057 to repopulate the frontier, it flourished under Portuguese kings—Afonso Henriques in 1160, Sancho I in 1198, Afonso II in 1219, and Manuel I in 1510—with dual enclosures: an upper military redoubt featuring a keep tower and cistern, and a lower 600m walled residential zone hosting markets since Afonso III's 1277 fair charter.

Peaking in the 12th-15th centuries as a regional hub with repairs under João I, it declined demographically by the 16th century due to water scarcity and shifting roads, abandoned post-1734 when the seat moved to Carrazeda, now preserved ruins revealing layered medieval streets and structures.
