Castelul "Foișor"
Sinaia, Romania, Romania
Castelul Foișor in Sinaia, Romania, began as a modest royal hunting lodge built in the 1870s by King Carol I adjacent to Peleș Castle, serving as temporary quarters for the royal family during Peleș construction and witnessing the 1921 birth of future King Mihai there.
Destroyed by fire in 1932, it was promptly rebuilt in neo-Romanian style by 1933 under Carol II's orders as a summer residence featuring lavish salons, a private theater, offices, and expansive views of the Bucegi Mountains, later enlarged in 1966 by Nicolae Ceaușescu to overshadow neighboring castles.
Retained by the Romanian state post-1989 as a presidential protocol villa despite royal restitution claims for the Peleș domain, it remains closed to the public within the secured royal estate.
