Castelul Mikó
Olteni, Romania, Romania
Castelul Mikó in Olteni, Covasna County, Romania, is a 19th-century noble residence built around 1827 by Count Miklós Mikó from stones of the nearby demolished Herecz Castle, on a site with Roman castrum origins first documented in 1332. One of Transylvania's oldest Székely families constructed earlier stone manor houses here from the 16th century, destroyed by Tatar-Turkish invasions in 1658, with the current structure featuring elegant Classicist architecture amid a historic park once part of Roman fortifications. Despite the owner's financial ruin from ambitious building projects including glassworks, it stands as a testament to Mikó lineage achievements in the Sepsi region, blending Renaissance roots with later noble expansions.
