Castelul Posada
Posada, Romania, Romania
Castelul Posada in Posada near Comarnic, Romania, was originally constructed in the 1840s as a hunting manor by Wallachian prince Gheorghe Bibescu using traditional mountain stone from local rivers, later expanded into a full castle around 1900 by his grandson aviator George Valentin Bibescu.
Nestled in a fairy-tale Carpathian valley near the historic Battle of Posada site from 1330 where Basarab I defeated Hungarian king Charles Robert, it hosted the Bibescu family amid romantic tales before German troops burned its main building in 1915 to destroy British archives during World War I.
Today, the restored structure operates as the Muzeul Cinegetic Posada, showcasing hunting trophies, weapons, and Carpathian cultural heritage within its rustic interiors and scenic grounds.
