Castle Fogarty
Ballycahill, Ireland, Ireland
Castle Fogarty is a historic castle and country house near Ballycahill in County Tipperary, Ireland.
It was originally the seat of the O'Fogarty clan, a prominent Gaelic family that held the property for centuries, with parts of the site dating back to the 16th century. Over time, the original residence was expanded and transformed into an impressive Gothic Revival mansion, complete with towers, battlements, and other castle-like features.
Much of the structure seen today resulted from major rebuilding during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, giving it the romantic appearance of a medieval fortress. The castle was severely damaged by fire in 1922 during the Irish Civil War and became largely roofless, although one section was later restored.
