Castleton Botanical Gardens
Castleton, Jamaica, Jamaica
Castleton Botanical Gardens is a historic public garden in St. Mary, Jamaica, established in 1862 on land that was once a sugar plantation. It became a major plant-collection site after many species were moved there from Bath, and it was once known for a very rich mix of tropical plants, including large numbers of palms. Today it is valued as a quiet, scenic place for walking and relaxing, with riverside views along the Wag Water River and a reputation as one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Caribbean and the western hemisphere.
