Rebuilt in the 16th-18th centuries under the Timișoara pashalik (1552-1717) amid Ottoman control, it protected the northeastern village edge against invasions in the Banat region. Today, its remnants stand as a modest landmark tied to the area's multi-ethnic Croatian-Romanian heritage and layered defensive past spanning Roman, medieval, and Turkish periods.
