Chortkiv Fortress, also known as Chortkiv Castle, stands on the left bank of the Seret River in Chortkiv, Ukraine, built in 1610 from brick by Stanisław Gołski as a private stone stronghold replacing an earlier wooden structure to defend Podilia against Cossack and Tatar raids during Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth rule.

Captured multiple times by Bohdan Khmelnytsky's Cossacks in 1648, 1649, and 1655, and later serving as a Turkish subaşı residence during Ottoman occupation from 1672 to 1683, it lost military significance in the 18th century, transitioning to a palace before becoming a tobacco facility, warehouse, and prison under Austrian Habsburg control.

Today, its majestic ruins with surviving walls and towers at the mountain's foot preserve Renaissance defensive architecture amid Chortkiv's historic center, evoking legends of battles and now drawing visitors to this Podilia landmark.
