The Church of St. Mary of Zion is one of Ethiopia's most revered religious sites, located in the historic city of Axum in the Tigray Region.

According to Ethiopian Orthodox tradition, the church is closely associated with the Ark of the Covenant, which is believed by many faithful to be housed within a special chapel near the church. The site has been an important center of worship and pilgrimage for centuries and holds a central place in Ethiopia's Christian heritage.

The church complex has undergone several reconstructions over the centuries and includes historic and modern buildings that reflect different periods of Ethiopian history. It is closely linked to the legacy of the ancient Kingdom of Aksum and the spread of Christianity in Ethiopia. As a major spiritual and cultural landmark, the Church of St. Mary of Zion attracts pilgrims and visitors from around the world and stands as a powerful symbol of Ethiopia's religious traditions and historical identity.
