Clogherhead
Republic of Ireland, Ireland
Clogherhead is a small fishing village on the east coast of County Louth in the Republic of Ireland, sitting on a natural bay about 70 km north of Dublin and 12 km northeast of Drogheda.
It wraps around the base of the rocky Clogher headland, with a working harbour known as Port Oriel and a long sandy beach backed by dunes that is popular for swimming, walking, and water sports such as surfing, kitesurfing, and sailing. The village has a long maritime history, supports an RNLI lifeboat station, and lies close to the Boyne Valley and its historic sites, while the headland itself offers coastal walks, dramatic cliff views, and important geological features along the Irish Sea.
