Clonea Castle is a medieval tower house located near Clonea in County Waterford, Ireland.

Built on a rocky outcrop between Croughaun Hill and the Clodiagh River, it was a substantial fortified residence that originally rose to six storeys and was protected by defensive features such as a surrounding ditch and fortified enclosure.

Historical records indicate that the castle belonged to the powerful Power family of Curraghmore and was already described as being in poor repair by the mid-17th century. Despite its decline, much of the structure survived for centuries, although storms and natural deterioration caused the loss of large sections of the building.

Today, the ruins of Clonea Castle remain an impressive landmark in the Waterford countryside. Its surviving walls and dramatic setting provide a glimpse into Ireland’s medieval past and the lives of the noble families who once occupied the region.
