Verified Daku Island

Philippines , Philippines

Daku Island is the largest and most popular of the three islands featured in Siargao's standard island-hopping tour, located off General Luna town in Siargao, Surigao del Norte, Philippines, and its name comes from the Visayan word for "big".

The island spans 136 hectares and is prized for its broad, powdery white sand shores, picture-perfect coconut and palm trees, clear electric-blue waters, gentle waves, and a relaxed island life vibe free from crowds. Unlike the other two tour islands (Naked Island and Guyam Island), Daku is inhabited by a few local families, offering visitors an authentic taste of Filipino culture with fisherfolk, beach huts, and small beachside eateries serving cheap meals and fresh seafood.

The island features a generously sized sandbar exposed at low tide, a palm forest where visitors can climb trees for views, and the Daku Reef which creates forgiving waves perfect for surfers of all skill levels as well as ideal conditions for snorkeling on calm days. It's just a 15-minute boat ride from General Luna, accessible via daily island-hopping tours or private boat rentals, and is particularly ideal for a lunch stop where visitors can rent bungalow huts and hire local beachside cooks for barbecue feasts.
