Verified Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

Ratchaburi Province, Thailand

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is Thailand’s most popular and famous floating market, located in the Damnoen Saduak district of Ratchaburi province about 100 to 110 kilometers southwest of Bangkok.

The market consists of a maze of narrow canals (khlongs) where female traders, often wearing traditional blue farmers' shirts with wide-brimmed straw hats, use small wooden boats called sampans to sell fresh produce, local food, fruits, souvenirs, kitchenware, and clothing to visitors. It is the busiest and most vibrant in the early morning from 7:00 to 9:00 AM when vendors row their boats along the narrow waterways as they hawk their goods, and it remains active until around noon.

The market dates back more than 100 years and still maintains the authentic flavor of old Thai water markets, offering visitors an insight into a bygone way of life while providing excellent photo opportunities with colorful boats and tropical fruits. Tasty food is available along the docks, including freshly-made mini coconut pancakes and boat noodles in rich broth, and many films have been shot here including one in the James Bond series.
