Dead Dog Beach, officially Playa Lucía, is a secluded white-sand beach in Yabucoa on Puerto Rico's southeastern coast, infamous for its tragic past as a notorious dumping ground for abused and abandoned stray dogs known locally as "satos."
Once overrun by hundreds of feral packs amid abandoned facilities and pet carcasses, the site was transformed through the Sato Project's rescue efforts since 2011, clearing most strays via daily patrols, veterinary care, spaying/neutering, and adoptions, though occasional dumping persists.
