Dobele Castle Ruins are the remains of a medieval fortress in the town of Dobele, built by the Livonian Order between 1335 and 1347 on the site of an earlier Semigallian hillfort.

Before the stone castle was constructed, the location served as an important Semigallian stronghold that successfully resisted multiple attacks during the Livonian Crusades. The castle became a major administrative and military center in the region, serving as the residence of local commanders for centuries.

It was later used by the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia, but suffered damage during conflicts such as the Polish-Swedish wars and the Great Northern War, after which it gradually fell into ruin. Today, the restored ruins and rebuilt chapel form one of Dobele’s most important historical attractions. Visitors can explore the medieval remains, learn about the area's Semigallian heritage, and enjoy exhibitions and cultural events held within the castle complex.
