The Dom Tower in Utrecht, Netherlands, is the tallest church tower in the country, standing at 112.32 meters (about 368.5 feet). Built between 1321 and 1382 as part of St. Martin's Cathedral, the tower is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture designed by John of Hainaut. It originally served religious, defensive, and civic functions, including acting as a bell tower and watchtower.

In 1674, a powerful storm caused the collapse of the cathedral's nave, leaving the Dom Tower standing alone as a freestanding monument. The tower features two square blocks topped with a lantern and is notable for its openwork design and massive bells, including a historic carillon. It is now a symbol of Utrecht's history and resilience, offering visitors panoramic views of the city after climbing its 465 steps.

The area where the nave once stood is now an open square, serving as a reminder of the tower’s historical event and transformation.
