Donetsk Botanical Garden in Donetsk is one of the largest botanical gardens in Europe, covering just over 200 hectares in the Bogodukhiv ravine on the edge of the industrial Donbas region.

Established in the mid-1960s under the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, it was created as a scientific institution focused on ecology, dendrology and plant introduction to help address environmental problems in a heavily industrial landscape.

The garden maintains a very rich living collection, with around 7,000–8,000 species, forms and varieties of plants, including several dozen internationally protected species and many taxa listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, as well as a large component of tropical and subtropical flora grown under glass. 

Its territory is structured into sections such as natural flora and dendrology, experimental plots and decorative plantings, and it also hosts public events, seasonal festivals and exhibitions, making it both a research center and a popular green space for rest and recreation.
