Positioned on a peninsula that was once an island settlement protected by lake waters, it served as the capital of the Anatolian beylik of Hamidids in the early 14th century, featuring thick walls, towers, and strategic defenses amid the scenic lake district.
Today, its ruins offer panoramic views, walking paths, and a glimpse into layered Mediterranean history near restored medieval structures like Dündar Bey Medrese.
