The Forestry Research Institute Tama Forest Science Park in Hachioji, Japan, was established in 1921 as an experimental forest station by the Imperial Forestry Bureau and later became part of the Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute.

The park covers approximately 57 hectares and includes a 7-hectare arboretum with about 500 tree species and roughly 1,800 cherry trees representing around 250 varieties, including ones dating back to the Edo period and national natural monuments.

It is renowned for its Cherry Tree Preservation Forest, which plays a key role in conserving the genetic diversity of cherry trees across Japan, with blossoms visible from late February to late April. The park features woodland trails, wildlife observation points, and a forest science museum, offering visitors a chance to experience nature, research, and education in a tranquil setting near Mount Takao. It operates daily except Mondays and emphasizes ecological balance and conservation.
