The Gdovskiy Kreml' in Gdov, Pskov Oblast, Russia, is a well-preserved 15th-century stone fortress built starting in 1431 to protect against Livonian and Teutonic threats, featuring massive walls of boulders and Devonian sandstone up to 4 meters thick and 8 meters high, with six combat towers and three gates flanked by the Gdovka River and a protective moat.

Fully stone by mid-century after initial wood-earth defenses proved inadequate, it endured sieges including Ivan IV's 1571 campaign and Peter the Great's 1706 reinforcements by mounding earth over walls, later partially dismantled in the 18th century before Catherine the Great halted demolition.

The 1520s-1530s saw construction of the grand St. Demetrius of Salonica Cathedral within, and though overgrown and park-covered today, its robust architecture remains a stark testament to medieval Pskov border defense.
