Gleninagh Castle is a well-preserved 16th-century tower house located in the Burren region of County Clare, near Rathmorgan and overlooking Galway Bay.

Built as a stronghold for the powerful O'Loughlin family, who were known as the Lords of the Burren, the castle served as both a residence and a defensive fortress during a period of political rivalry and conflict in medieval Ireland. The castle is notable for its distinctive L-shaped design, four-storey structure, spiral staircase, defensive turrets, and commanding coastal setting.

Over the centuries, ownership changed several times, but the O'Loughlin family remained closely associated with the castle well into the 19th century. Today, Gleninagh Castle is a protected National Monument and one of the most recognizable historic landmarks in the Burren. Its dramatic location, impressive architecture, and connection to the region’s Gaelic heritage make it a striking reminder of County Clare’s medieval past.
