The Grand Mosque of Kuwait is the country’s largest and most prominent mosque, located in the heart of Kuwait City.
Completed in 1986 after seven years of construction, it covers an expansive area of 45,000 square meters and can accommodate over 10,000 worshipers in its main prayer hall. The mosque is celebrated for its impressive architectural blend of traditional Islamic and modern styles, featuring a striking central dome adorned with the 99 names of God, intricate Islamic calligraphy, hand-carved teakwood doors, marble and Moroccan gypsum interior decorations, and a minaret inspired by Andalusian architecture.
It houses multiple prayer halls, a library of Islamic references, and an Amiri Hall for special occasions, serving as both a center for worship and a symbol of Kuwait’s rich religious and cultural heritage.
