Administratively part of San Jose municipality, it comprises ten barangays including Ilin Proper, Ipil, and Natandol, supporting a population of around 11,926 as of 2020 who engage in fishing and farming. Notable for biodiversity like the endangered Ilin Island cloud rat and rare Philippine teak trees, it also draws pilgrims to a healing church in Ilin Proper amid tropical coastal terrain.
