Izushi Castle, built in 1604 by Koide Yoshihide at the base of Mount Ariko in Toyooka, Hyogo Prefecture, was constructed after earlier castles in the area, like Konosumi and Arikoyama Castles, fell to Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The castle itself was never large and lacked a main keep, but the town that grew around it followed a grid pattern laid out for military purposes, giving Izushi the nickname "Little Kyoto of Tajima."

Although the castle was dismantled during the Meiji period, some parts including two turrets, a bridge, and a clock tower have been rebuilt, and a shrine with a tunnel of vermillion torii gates stands within the grounds.

The castle grounds are popular for cherry blossom viewing, and the town still preserves the Edo-period atmosphere with old samurai homes and shops, making it a charming historic site reflecting Japan's feudal past.
