Khorostkivsʹkyy Derzhavnyy Dendrolohichnyy Park
Khorostkiv, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine, Ukraine
Khorostkivsʹkyy Derzhavnyy Dendrolohichnyy Park is a state-level dendrological (arboretum) park and a protected monument of garden and park art located in the small town of Khorostkiv in Ternopil Oblast, western Ukraine. Established in 1972 and covering about 18 hectares, it operates under the Ternopil State Agricultural Research Station of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences, giving it a dual role as both a public park and a scientific research site. The park is noted for its rich living collection of woody and herbaceous plants used for the introduction and acclimatization of species, making it a kind of open-air museum of global flora. Sources describe more than 1,500 species of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants from almost all continents (except Antarctica), arranged to showcase both ornamental and scientific value. Its design combines a formal “French” style near the entrance—with symmetrical plantings, lawns, flowerbeds and small architectural features—and a more naturalistic “English” landscape style deeper in the park, with open glades, winding paths and picturesque vistas that highlight the diversity of the collection.
