Kilcash Castle is a prominent medieval tower house in County Tipperary, Ireland, situated on a hillside with views of Slievenamon Mountain.

Originally associated with the de Valle (Wall) family and later owned by the powerful Butler family of Ormond, it became an important noble residence from the 14th century onward. The castle was built as a fortified stronghold but was gradually adapted into a more comfortable home, featuring grand fireplaces, living quarters, and surrounding parkland.

Its architecture includes defensive features such as thick walls, a guarded entrance, spiral staircases, and machicolations used to defend the building. By the late 18th century the castle had fallen into decline and much of its material was removed, leaving it in ruins. Today, Kilcash Castle remains one of Tipperary’s most impressive historic landmarks, valued for its connection to the Butler family and its striking medieval architecture.
